How hot a soldering iron do I need to work with silver solder for electronics?
I just bought a new one after my old 25 watt only went up to 425 F and was really tough to work with.
The new one is also 25 watt but goes up to 760 F.
Wondering if this will be okay before I use it and am unable to return it…
I am working with soldering wires to IC’s on a PCB
I use lead-free solder so I don’t have to breathe in the fumes…(I work indoors)
Nope, a pencil iron at 100 watt will do the trick but a propane torch is much better for silver solder. I cant think of a need for silver solder in electronics. Think copper tubing in refrigeration or plumbing.
