what reptile lays turquoise blue leathery eggs?
It is definitely an egg. I found it broken in my driveway. It still had egg residue in it. About the size of a regular bird’s egg. Very bright metallic turquoise. Never seen anything like it.
The biggest clue in this question is that you said it was broken… to the best of my knowledge, reptile eggs are very rubbery in nature, and although they split when the young reptile comes out, they won’t break like a traditional egg. Therefore, if it’s cracked and such, it is probably a bird egg that has softened due to exposure to moisture or chemicals, and as someone said before, a robin is a good guess. However, not knowing the bird and reptile species in your area, as you didn’t say where you were, it’s anybody’s guess as to what it might be. Don’t confuse the rubbery lining of a birds egg with the leatheryness of a reptile.
I made that mistake a lot as a kid.
