why do we have green eyes and why can’t a punnet square always tell the possible outcomes?
my mom is a homozygous blue eyed person and my dad is heterozygous green eyed person. his parents had brown and blue eyes. please help me get sorted out!
It’s not as simple as a Punnet square. Brown eyes are dominant over other genes, such as blue eyes. But green eyes are like a variation of blue eyes. Think of it as another recessive gene like blue eye color. Also, green eyes are the product of low to moderate amounts of melanin and fatty acids, and probably represent the interaction of multiple variants within the OCA2 and in other genes. It could just be the way your genes interact.
