Would I benefit from a memory clock increase more or a core clock increase when OC’ing my 8800GTS?
I have my 8800GTS OC’ed at 621/945 on stock cooling, I ran a 2x loop of a performance test of one of my games, and I saw the temperature peaking at 76 degrees. I want to run my games at 1600×1200 resolutions. If I’m looking for a more temp/performance ratio, should I lower the memory clock and increase the core a bit more? Thank you very much!
i talked to one of the nvidia guys that were visiting microcenter to check out the sales of their nvidia cards. and i asked one of the rep if 75 degrees celsius is a normal temp for the g80 series. they said ” even 80 degrees celsius is normal at loads”
they made the video cards strong enough to handle high temperatures. now if its reaching 85 celsius +, then i suggest you somehow get better air cooling.. or a new fan or somethin.
and BTW.. overclocking an 8800gts should be overclocked by intervals of 13.
you could bump it up to core 941/ 928 and it’ll still be stable.
more than that will cause artifacts!
