What would you call this?
My mother-in-law embroidered a beautiful pattern on a piece of cloth, embroidered my husband’s and my name and wedding date and the words “Let the Spirit of Love Dwell in Your Hearts” on it, had it beautifully framed and presented it to us as an anniversary gift. It is lovely, but I find myself at a loss as to what to call it in my thank you note. It’s not a sampler, is it? Isn’t a sampler supposed to have different stitches and all the letters and like that? Does anyone know what the correct term would be? Thanks for your help.
