Why does salt water break a glass if it is heated in the microwave?
I had a glasss of warm salt water that sat out and cooled down before I could rinse my mouth out. I decided to put it in the microwave to warm it up. After 20 seconds, I heard a strange noise, looked in the microwave and saw the salt water spilled and the glass broken in four places.
Was the glass heatproof or pyrex? Probably the rapid heating caused the problem, not the salt water directly.
