1989 lincoln town car relay trouble.?
my fuel pump was not priming up so i wnt to auto zone to get a new fuel pump relay. but i didnt know which one of the five on the driver side fenderwall it was. i tried one by one to see if one was the defective one. however when i got to the dark green colored relay connecter and connected the fuel pump relay to it something popped near the starter solenoid as soon as it connected. so i looked up and saw smoke coming from the fusible links and another pop. i freaked out and quickly disconnected it. it burned my fingers cause it got so hot really quick. does anyone know what relay i connected it to was? and how do i fix this? was it just the fusible links going out?
You need to take a look at the wiring diagrams… Mixing and matching relays is a really bad idea. I know the Haynes manual has them, and I’m sure the other manuals do as well.
