Glassblowing Glasses
alternative flame for glassblowing?

is it possible to use the flame from a plasma cutting to blow glass? what type of glass should i use. any that i can fin around the household? thanks!

plasma cutter doesn’t work with materials which are non conductive like glass. In order to work a plasma cutter you need to get an electric arc between the the nozzle and the material. You are definitely not going to get this with glass. Also it’s too hot and you cannot control the heat. Any arc welders will not be suitable at all.

I don’t know what you are thinking about, but most likely not a plasma cutter. You might be thinking of an oxyacetylene torch with a cutting attachment/nozzle.

I know a lamp worker who said it’s possible to work with a oxyacetylene setup though it is certainly not ideal, but then he is really good at it.
I would think a MAPP gas torch is a possibility, but that probably will get fairly expensive.
