Where can I buy irregular shaped glass?
I’m working on a mosaic project and I bought some Wissmach glass tiles that are 12 by 8. I used a glass breaking tool to break it into all different shapes, not just squares. Problem is it took me 2 hours to do ONE tile!! Every mosaic and glass supply store I’ve seen only cuts into squares or triangles. Which I think makes for a less interesting mosaic. Please does anyone know of a place that sells irregular cut tiles?!?!?
It should not take that long to cut and break the glass. What tool are you using?
For that sort of project, I would recommend using wheeled glass nippers. I have a photo of them here:

Basically, you use them to chunk the glass quickly- they work almost like scissors, except you cut once, instead of trying to cut out shapes. In this way, you can quickly and easily chunk out a number of different sizes and angles which will be somewhat random and better for mosaics.
Just be sure to aim the cut pieces towards the work surface and wear goggles if you are not used to shielding the nippers with one hand.
