when you hold glass up to the sun, why colors of the rainbow show?
i’m doing an experiment for my science fair. my experiment is:cutting a rectangle into a piece of cardboard and holding a piece of glass to the sun ,and the colors of the rainbow show on a piece of paper . and i need to know why?
It depends. Light will not refract unless the glass is either slanted or curved. A surface that is perpendicular to the light should not refract it.
To answer your question though, if you are successful in refracting the Sun’s rays (which is easy), you should see all colors of the visible spectrum.
