My PC card tv tuner only recognizes one channel!?
Ok I only have rabbit ears, I admit it. But I don’t like cable or satellite because its M.O.T.S (more of the same thing) for a fee.
Anyway, upon installing my Hauppauge Tv Tuner everything went fine until it was time to scan for channels. It only picks up one: CBS (channel 2 Chicago) **Has CBS 2 Chicago done something other stations have not?
I’m on the 2nd floor of a three story apartment so an outdoor antenna is not an option. However, glass windows practically make up the south wall but that’s opposite the downtown area.
It seems like a great product because this one channel is awesome, but that’s all I get, so I believe my reception is the problem.
If getting cable is the only solution I’m going to uninstall the tuner and return it, but before I drive back to Circuit City, what can I do?
Phillip,
My converter box is on it’s way, will that help or change my situation at all?
Check your software (either Hauppauge or Media Center) configuration.
Odds are that you have the tuner set to “cable” rather than antenna …. this would explain why you only get one channel (the default channel “3″ that most tuners use when accessing a cable box).
If that’s not it then a powered antenna would be a good idea.
FYI – you will need to go with a digital box next year when all over the air anolog transmission is switched to digital in the U.S. (if that’s where you are).
