Genuine question about sexual offences?
According to a newspaper article I have just read:
The girl, now 17 and identified only as Jane Doe, claims Epstein invited her to his Palm Beach, Florida mansion in 2005 to perform a massage for $US300. He demanded she remove her clothes, then sexually assaulted her, according to the lawsuit filed in federal court in West Palm Beach.
“Jane experienced confusion, shame, humiliation, embarrassment, and the assault sent her life into a downward spiral,” according to the lawsuit.
I’m willing to accept that it’s true and the girl had a very nasty experience.
My question is, why would she experience confusion, shame, humiliation, embarrassment and why would her life go into a downward spiral ?
I forgot to mention that she was 14 at the time of the alleged incident
Those sensations can and are, a very real part of feeling the violation, insult, and trauma associated with unwanted sexual contact. One may feel helpless, violated, victimizes, humiliated, and hopeless, to name but a few of the many possible emotional states.
