Ways to use Precious Metal Clay (PMC)?
Hi, I was wondering if anyone who uses PMC could help me. I’ve never used it before and just bought some, but my question is- well, I’ve got an old plain sterling silver wide ring and I’m thinking I want to add some patterns to it, like shapes and squiggles, using the clay. What I want to know is, if I do that, will the silver from the clay adhere to the ring in the pattern I’ve added, or will it turn to solid silver, and then fall off? Any help would be great, I don’t want to try it if it won’t fuse because that would be quite wasteful!
Also, along the same idea, if I’ve already made something from PMC like a pendant, and already fired it, could I add more detail to it with more clay, fire it again, and it would fuse? or not? thanks for any help!

you need a bonding clay(most of the times its a liquid like clay) to have things become attached together if you hadnt already applied enough pressure to have the two separate clays bond together
If you want to add more detail to the pendant i suppose you can do that but make sure the pendant doesnt get burned while the un-cooked clay gets cooked
its best to try and make a new pendant with the new design and if not just test out your way since its best for you to experiment with the clay and see what works and what doesnt
but the best thing is going to a bookstore
and getting a book on PMC since i saw a really useful book all about metal clay at barnes and nobles
