Disabling car alarm on a 2000 Olds. Intrigue?
Our car has an aftermarket alarm that my husband recently discovered when he enabled it by accident. There’s a very small black button on the car’s door frame/moulding down by the hood latch release. He hit it by mistake with his foot the other day, and now we have a working alarm. I almost never lock the car–I like to just go, get in, and start it up. Now I have to stop and remember to push the unlock button on the key chain or else the alarm goes off. (And I can NEVER remember to push it.) Also, now when we lock the door, the car chirps and flashes and does all kinds of ridiculous stuff. Before, it just to just click when the locks engaged or disengaged.
My husband said it’s an aftermarket alarm and is somehow wired into the car to the point where unplugging a fuse won’t work. Does anyone know how to turn it off? I’ve tried pushing this black button, pushing it and holding it, pushing it while starting the car, etc. We have no owners manual for the alarm.
after market alarms usually disable power to the starter, you need to locate the control box under the dash, trace the wires from the box to find were they spliced into the , and reconnect the factory wires.
