What Other Options For Engagement Rings Are There Besides Diamond?

Your question is welcome and many people do not understand how many options are there for selecting engagement rings. Most people look to the basics because they normally only have one choice.
Although most rings are mundane a thrifty couple can introduce romance and make a new symbol, new choices, and save money to be invested in their new union by choosing a unique set of wedding rings.
Generally, the options may be divided into three basic categories, that is if you plan to have a ring. You could also make a choice of a ring without a stone; one idea is a band that will go well with a wedding band, and then be engraved with words that are important to you, or perhaps embossed with a pattern you like that also coordinates with the wedding band.
Bands can be examined along with the wedding sets and you can mix and match, or you can duplicate by turning a single band into a double band. Many designers would jump at the opportunity to design a dual band set so it should not be hard to hire one for cheap and use the savings on stone.
If you choose a stone, the remaining two choices are to go with some form of stone or synthetic that looks like diamond, or simply lighting out for the unknown country and finding a stone that suits you perfectly, both as individuals and as a couple.
Cubic Zirconium is the most preferred and known substitute for diamond, though it weights more and looks duller than a pure diamond and may even wane in color with usage. It is still the one very popular diamond substitute that you can easily obtain, it wears very good and is stunning to look at.
Moissanite, a synthetically produced stone based on a gem found in the heart of a meteorite, is also superb, though more expensive than cubic zirconium stones. The stone is slightly harder than diamond, twice as brilliant (a factor that increases its beauty but does lead to identification by those who prefer the muted fire of a diamond)leading some people to feel that it has a faint greenish tinge. It is mostly a persons own style which dictates the pros and cons of Moissanite.
Instead of a diamond, the white sapphire has been used for hundreds of years. When compared with a diamond, the white sapphire is less durable and its fire is softer, but because of its ability to be cut like a diamond few will challenge its lovely luster and beauty.
The only limits to considering a stone that is outside the diamond look-alike field are those you set yourself. Ruby, sapphire, jade, and similar hard stones are good choices since the stone will be worn constantly over a long period of time.
A color that goes well with the range of colors often worn is wise. Aside from this, the whole vista of gems is available. A star sapphire or other carborundum such as ruby? Naturally. Such a beautiful change from the facets of a diamond! Would you consider a carved jade jewel mounted in solid gold? It lasts a long time and comes in a variety of colors.
There are as many variations on engagement rings as you can conceive of. Only your opinion and your beloved’s opinion matter – this is your engagement ring! If either of you thinks “oh, blah, diamond” or “we could spend the money so much more wisely,” then it is time to start discussing the many choices open to you.
