Muffled Hearing in My Right Ear?
I woke up this morning with muffled hearing in my right ear. I don’t have a cold, allergies or sinus problems so I was concerned and went straight to the doctor. She asked me if I had cleaned my ears and I told her I had yesterday with Q-tips. She said there was some blood in my ear and packed it with gauze and antibiotic ointment for 8 hours. She said to come back tomorrow if there was pain or if it was worse.
The gauze is out and still no pain but my hearing is still muffled. How long will this take to clear up and will it return to normal? Is it normal to have muffled hearing if you have a slight cut inside your ear canal? Is this serious?
The reason why I am asking is because I live in a foreign country and am dealing with the language barrier. The Dr. didn’t seemed concerned and was able to speak a little English. Thanks for any reassurance!
Hi jane this happens to me often , because I produce more wax than I actually need. If the wax in my ear gets softened by say a shower… and I put a qtip in there it pushes the wax and plugs the ear up. I get some Drops from the drug store to use.. but even that softens the wax and the ear is plugged. I like to get one of those little bulb thingys they have for babies.. ( idk what it is called… but theres a bulb like thingy and a pointy part , that sucks up like a baster) I flush my ear with warm water to help flush out that clogged wax. OR the fastest way is when the DOC flushed my ear in the office , A HUGE plug of wax came out ( it looked as big as a ciagarette butt !!) but it was like INSTANT hearing. I have also used perxoide or baby oil for softner when I didnt have access to the drops. But messing with your ear can give you a headache.. dont forget to take some asprin! LOL
