How do I bake a frozen uncooked apple pie in a glass dish?
It’s my first homemade apple pie & I stupidly froze it in a glass pie dish. Googled several sights & saw that sudden temperature change would break the glass. I know thawing it will make it soggy. Next time (if there is one), I’ll used a foil pan!
With a frozen pie inside, the dish cannot go through a sudden temperature change because the pie will slow the heating, even if you put it a hot oven, especially if it is on the wire grid and not some flat metal. If you want to reduce the chance of shock slightly, without defrosting the pie, simply set the pan out for a few minutes (10-20) while the oven is heating up so the glass gets closer to room temp.
Glass pans are cooked at 50F lower than metal pans.
