Removing cutting blade on lawn mower?

I have an old Lawn Boy lawn mower model number 8237. Is there a trick or process to removing the main nut?

Just overly tight. 4 x 4 Block. Jam in the deck so the blade dont turn. Dont stick nothing in the plug hole. Thats asking for problems. Threads should not be backwards on that one.
