Does substitution of butter for vegetable oil change the consistency of cookies dramatically?
I substituted a cup of butter for 3/4 veg oil and 1/4 water. Even after two hours of chilling, the cookie dough was very sticky. I used a lot of flour for the dough not to stick, so I can cut it with cookie cutters, but picking up the shapes also proved to be a problem. They stuck to the cutters even after I used flour on the cutters. Is this because of the butter substitution?
That’s probably a big part of it.
It could also be the temperature of the room or the humidity level of where you live.
But, if the last two haven’t effected other cookies – it’s probably the butter.
(you can use margarine if you just don’t want to use real butter – margarine keeps the texture the same)
