What is the cheapest way to hard coat a Styrofoam sculpture?
I’ve used ‘sculpt or coat’ and ‘elastomeric’. ‘Shell Shock’ sucks! What else is there that I can get in a 5gal bucket for under 200 bucks?! This must create a durable shell that I can paint and NOT remove much detail. Thanks
thinking about sealing with varnish or gesso, then laminating polyester resin
I know some people use plaster/spackle/stucco. Water based putty may also be an option. Probably won’t last that long if you plan to keep it outdoors, but won’t be any problem indoors. Definitely paintable. It’s durable to a degree, but if dropped, banged on with a hammer etc will crack.
