my dog got burs on her coat?
my dog was out in the dirt hills today, and ran into a bur/prickle bush
and now is covered in burs
(their like goat heads but flat and they stick to everything*
is there an easy way to get them out besides just picking them out or cutting them out?
(i dont want to cut her fur shes really proud of it and last time i did she was mad at me and was pretty depressed about it, sound weird? ya i know but its true)
The “pinching” that the previous poster described is a good idea. You want to be pulling against your fingers, not against the dog’s skin (just like brushing your own hair).
A conditioning spray might help make it easier for you to pick the burrs out. I always use Show Sheen (designed for horses, but works on dogs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001HTWUOW), but there are other detangling sprays that might help. If you can’t find one specifically made for dogs, try one made for children (to make sure it’s gentle). Then, after the burrs are out, rinse the fur to get the detangler residue off (just so your dog doesn’t lick it off and get sick).
