What are the black chunks at the bottom of my wine bottle?
I just purchased some wine and bought a cute little four pack. All four bottles have black chunks at the bottom. What are the chunks?
It’s sediment. It’s a red wine, right? It’s normal and fine.
As the wine ages a bit particulates drop out and the wine gets a little lighter and a little clearer. When they talk about ‘decanting’ a wine it’s the sediment they leave behind but if you drink it it’s not gonna hurt a bit, certainly not after four bottles!
